Our advertised aircraft packages include up to two aircraft hours for the first check ride associated with the course. The combined CFI & CFII package includes up to two hours for each initial check ride.
These hours are additional to the advertised training aircraft allowance. Aircraft use beyond the applicable allowance is $190 per hour. Examiner fees are separate.

Yes, subject to aircraft and insurance approval. Your airplane must have the required airworthiness and registration certificates, meet applicable maintenance and inspection requirements, and be properly equipped for the planned training and check ride.
We offer a PA-28-181 Archer II with a Garmin 430 and a Cessna 172 L with a Garmin 530W and two G5's.
We will work with you to address any deficiencies and prepare you for a retest.
Yes, you must bring a passed written exam.
A typical accelerated training day runs from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flight instruction, ground instruction, preparation, and breaks scheduled around the day’s needs.
Actual training times may vary with weather, aircraft availability, and the course. Published contact hours are separate from scheduled training hours.
Weather, maintenance, and examiner scheduling can affect the training timeline. We will discuss schedule changes and any additional training or aircraft charges with you.

Southern Horizon operates under Part 61. This allows us to provide flexible, one-on-one, proficiency-based training tailored to each student’s experience level and goals.
Not at this time. Southern Horizon does not currently accept GI Bill benefits.
We do not offer in-house financing. However, we recommend the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) as a resource for flight training financing options.
Yes. Contour Airlines provides commercial air service to South Arkansas Regional Airport, making it easier for out-of-town students to travel directly to El Dorado for training.
