Accelerated Instrument Rating

Build your instrument flying skills through focused, one-on-one instruction tailored to your experience. This eight-day course is designed for pilots who meet the program prerequisites and are ready to strengthen their IFR knowledge, develop consistent instrument procedures, and prepare for the check ride.

Your course includes:

• Eight days of personalized flight and ground instruction
• Up to 25 hours of aircraft rental for training
• Up to 2 additional aircraft hours for your first check ride—27 hours total
• Course materials
• Lunch on training days

Examiner fees are not included. Additional training may be needed based on your preparation, proficiency, and remaining aeronautical experience requirements.

• At least 30 hours of pilot-in-command cross-country time
• At least 15 hours of actual or simulated instrument time
• Passed Instrument Rating Airplane (IRA) knowledge test
• Current medical qualification appropriate for the planned flying
• Proof of U.S. citizenship

A logbook review is required before scheduling. These are course entry requirements. Your remaining cross-country, instrument, and other FAA requirements must be reviewed to determine whether the included training allowance fits your needs.

Aircraft rental time and logged instrument time are not necessarily the same. Additional training or time building may be needed.

A $1,000 nonrefundable deposit reserves your training dates and is applied toward the $10,855 course price. The remaining balance is due no later than the first day of training.

Your package includes up to 25 aircraft hours for training and up to 2 additional aircraft hours for your first check ride.

Aircraft use beyond the applicable training or check ride allowance is $190 per hour. Additional instruction, when needed, is $750 per day. Examiner fees are separate.

Course length represents eight scheduled training days. Completion and check ride dates depend on preparation, proficiency, weather, aircraft availability, and examiner scheduling.
